Overview of Social Services

Each PSKC clinic has at least one Social Worker on staff.  Our Social Workers all have a Master of Social Work degree and are licensed by the State of Washington at the Associate level or higher.  Social Workers assess new and established patients to help them adjust to dialysis and to ensure that they have resources needed to maintain quality of life.

Our professional medical Social Workers can help with many issues including:

  • Evaluating treatment options, including in-center, nocturnal, home, self-care and transplant
  • Social Security Disability Insurance
  • Medicare and Medicaid
  • Drug Manufacturer assistance programs
  • Depression and Anxiety—Common in dialysis patients, can be successfully treated with a combination of medication and short-term counseling
  • Referral to transportation providers
  • Role change issues including entering/leaving the workforce, entering/leaving assisted living, caregiver support, grief, and more
