Being diagnosed with chronic kidney disease can be overwhelming for you, your family and your friends. Knowing more about what to expect, what your treatment options are and what you can do now to slow kidney disease down will help you feel better prepared.

Puget Sound Kidney Centers is happy to offer several classes to kidney patients and their friends and family. Survive and Thrive
with CKD

Take charge of your health in a fun and interactive learning environment. If you’ve been diagnosed with chronic kidney disease, join us for our free, six-week course to learn how to live well with chronic kidney disease.

You’ll find out how to slow kidney disease down, learn about treatment options and get useful nutrition and exercise tips that promote kidney health. You’ll also be treated to healthy (and tasty!) cooking demonstrations.

  • Cost: FREE
  • Classes in series: Three (in Everett) or six (in Lynnwood)
  • Duration: 1.5 hours per class
  • Time: Depends on location.

Healthy Options

If you have chronic kidney disease and will soon be starting treatment, our Healthy Options class will help you feel better prepared. Your friends and family are also welcome to sign up.

The first class, taught by one of our dialysis nurses, covers how your kidneys work and treatment options, including both in-center dialysis and home dialysis. The second class covers nutrition and adjusting to life with kidney disease. It’s taught by a renal dietitian, social worker and members of the Road Back To Life, a support group for patients.

  • Cost: FREE
  • Classes in series: Two
  • Duration: 2.5 hours per class
  • Location options: Everett, Mountlake Terrace, Smokey Point, Monroe, Whidbey Island
  • Day / Time: Thursday evenings (5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.) in Everett, Mountlake Terrace, Smokey Point, and Whidbey Island; Wednesday evenings (5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.) in Monroe
