Power for Patients Campaign
The Pacific Northwest is home to frequent storms and extreme weather incidents, which can result in a loss of power. It is vital that Puget Sound Kidney Centers has reliable, back-up energy sources on-site that support the full spectrum of power needs of our dialysis centers and operations during such outages.
Dialysis is lifesaving for people with end-stage renal disease. To stay healthy, patients must receive all of their dialysis treatment, which for most is three days a week, four hours each time. Missing treatments can lead to very poor health outcomes and even death. When power outages occur, hemodialysis cannot be performed, requiring patients to seek care at distant locations, delay their treatment or be hospitalized. Many patients have difficulty with transportation. Having an emergency generator at every center will allow us to continue to treat patients during power outages, emergencies or disasters, thus maintaining the best level of care, reducing health risks and preventing hospitalizations.
The Power for Patients campaign will help raise the funds to ensure every center at PSKC has an emergency generator. We have four more centers to go. Let’s do this together!!
